The Waterways Conclave-2022 held at Dibrugarh that concluded on Tuesday (April 11) witnessed the signing of six Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements in the presence of union minister of ports, shipping and waterways Sarbananda Sonowal and Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. 
The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) and Gauhati University (GU) signed an MoU for research and development, consultancy and investment in inland waterways. An MoU  was also inked between Inland Waterways Authority of India and Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL), Dibrugarh for transportation of their cargo using inland water transport. The IWAI also signed an MoU with Tata Steel, Jamshedpur for transportation of their steel cargo using inland water transport.
The government of Tripura also signed a MoU with Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) for co-operation of survey of vessels and training of personnel. 
An agreement was signed between Inland Waterways Authority of India and M/s Rajesh Auto Merchandise Private Limited for operation and maintenance of temporary terminal at Maia, West Bengal. The IWAI also signed an agreement with M/s Jimex International for operation and maintenance of temporary terminal at Maia, West Bengal.
