The Social Organisation Shree Gopal Gaushala of Dibrugarh has launched an ambulance service for cows suffering from accidental injuries and serious diseases.

The Ambulances service said to be the first in northeast has been inaugurated by Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner, Biswajit Pegu in a function held at the Gaushala premises today.

“The service would pave the way for the speedy treatment of seriously ill and injured cows. I am happy that Shree Gopal Gaushala is improving the standard of treatment of injured and sick cows with the first of kind of service in northeast.” – said Biswajit Pegu, DC, Dibrugarh.

“We are happy that the ambulance service has been inaugurated today. In last two years, we have rescued 52 cows but unfortunately we could save only 16 cows. We could have save more cows if we could rescue the cows in time and in proper way. Now we are sure, we will be able to save more cows with the introduction of the cow ambulance.”– said Ashok Dhanuka, General Secretary of Shree Gopal Gaushala.

“We are running a cow hospital to serve the cows with the help of veterinary doctor and necessary medical facilities. Many times we could not save the cows due to absence of such facilities. Now the ambulance service will be operational from tomorrow.” – said Nirmal Beria, President, Shree Gopal Gaushala.

The ambulance fitted with a hydraulic lifting system to lift the cows easily has been brought from Ahmedabad.

The function was also attended by Dibrugarh Municipal Board Chairman Dr Saikat Patra and Executive Committee members of Shree Gopal Gaushala, eminent citizens and members of the society.
