“Over cautiousness adversely effects the innovative practices,” said Mridul Hazarika, Vice Chancellor of  Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva University and former Vice chancellor of Gauhati University while delivering the Dr Lakhmiprasad Dutta Memorial lecture on the theme “The future of Innovation and need of redefining higher education” on the occasion of 78th establishment day of Dibrugarh Hanumanbax Surajmall Kanoi (DHSK) College on June 15. 

Hazarika further said that innovation is a way of life and new innovations are giving new ways to human lives. He also gave a glimpse of new innovations that are taking place in today’s world while mentioning that every student is blessed with lots of qualities and they should nourish those qualities, which would lead towards innovation. 

Speaking on the occasion former student of DHSK College Padmashree Dr Surjya Hazarika recalled all the teachers he met during his college days and shared some lesser known facts about Jogiraj Basu, the founder principal of the college. Like previous years this year also the Dr Lakhmiprasad Dutta Memorial Award was presented to highest mark holders from Arts Stream for the years 2019-20 (Parishmita Gogoi) and 2020-21 (Anikha Dutta). 

In the same event, Dibrugarh Nagarik Mancha presented the “Clean College Award of Assam” to DHSK College as a recognition of its relentless efforts towards maintaining swacchata and green environment. On behalf of Dibrugarh Nagarik Mancha vice president Dr Bharati Dutta, general Secretary Anil Prasad Singh and other members presented the award to the principal of the college Dr Sashi Kanta Saikia. A handbook on Plant Species Diversity of DHSK College and college magazine “Kanoian” was also inaugurated on the occasion.
