The state government in its cabinet meeting at Dhemaji today has decided to upgrade the Dibrugarh Municipal Board to a Municipal Corporation. Among the decisions taken are:

Assam Cabinet approved over Rs 700 crore for the employees of Hindustan Paper Corporation

Assam cabinet approved Rs 1800 Cr for rewarding around 11 lakh beneficiaries of micro finance loans

Dhemaji district’s Dhakuakhana’s Sarikuria tribal belt will be de-notified

Similarly, a new tribal belt will be created encompassing 89 revenue villages of Sissycolony.

A new stadium will be build in Dhemaji with a budget of 50 Cr

₹ 150 approved for flood control in Dhemaji.

Dibrugarh and Silchar Municipal Board will be Dibrugarh upgraded to Municipal Corporations.
