The Dibrugarh police on Monday started a special initiative for public grievance redressal related to police matter as per directions of the Director General of Police (DGP), Assam. On the first day, 20 public grievances from various parts of Dibrugarh district
were heard personally and resolved by superintendent of police (SP) Shwetank Mishra in the open ground at the SP office premises.

The following officers have been entrusted the responsibility of meeting the public and redressing their grievances on all working days from 11.30am to 1.30pm – Superintendent of Police (Monday), Additional SP – Security & Intelligence (Tuesday), Additional SP – Headquarters (Wednesday), DSP – Security & Intelligence (Thursday), Additional SP – Border (Friday) and Inspector – District Special Branch (Saturday).

“Today I interacted with 20 people from various parts of Dibrugarh district and heard their grievances. Instead of the office the grievances were heard on the open ground inside the SP office premises. It was done so that people don’t hesitate to approach us with their grievances. We are maintaining a register where the name, address, phone number and the nature of grievances are noted down. Accordingly the grievances are solved on the spot. If we are not able to address the grievances on the spot, we give a time period for the resolution of the grievances. We have entrusted six officers to meet the public on working days from 11.30am to 1.30pm to address their grievances. In case any emergency stand-by police officers will handle the public grievances. This step has been taken to make the police more people oriented and citizen centric,” Dibrugarh SP Shwetank Mishra said.
