The owner of the ferry, which capsized in River Brahmaputra in Assam’s Majuli last week has been arrested by the police in Dibrugarh.
The arrested owner of the ferry has been identified as Pani Ram Kalita.
Kalita was arrested by the police while he was trying to get himself admitted to a hospital.
“The owner of the boat involved in disaster, Sri Pani Ram Kalita has been arrested by @dibrugarhpolice while he was trying for admission to a hospital. Follow up investigation would be done by @Jorhat_Police @assampolice @CMOfficeAssam,” tweeted Assam special DGP – GP Singh.
