Union minister of ports, shopping and waterways & AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated a river front passenger jetty at Bogibeel along the Brahmaputra river in Dibrugarh on Monday. The union minister also laid the foundation stone for construction of floating jetties at Bogibeel and Guijan. The mega project will lead to development of multimodal transport hub, boost tourism prospects in the upper Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. Moreover economic activities will get an impetus along with employment generation. It will also lead to cargo movement in collaboration with Inland Waterways Authority of India. Minister of State of Labour & Employment Rameswar Teli, State transport, fisheries and excise minister Parimal Suklabaidya, Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah and Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan were among those present during the progamme.
