In exercise of the power conferred by Section 35 of the Shops & Establishment Act, 1971 (Assam Act NO.XXI of 1971) the Governor of Assam has suspend the operation of Sections 6,9,10 and 11 of the said Act, throughout the State of Assam during the state festivals for a period of 68 (Sixty-eight) days i.e. on the occasions as mentioned below during the year 2023.
The Shops and Establishments will remain open for 68(Sixty-eight) days subject to condition that the employees shall be paid compensation for overtime work and for work on weekly off days by employers concerned.
