Amid the grim flood situation in the state, frontline voluntary organization “The Bridge – Setubandhan” on Sunday provided relief aid to the flood-affected people of Kaya-Borpulla panchayat area of Kamrup (Rural) district. Earlier today, a team of volunteers led by Convener of the organization Pankaj Kalita left from Maligaon with the relief materials that included food items, drinking water and medicines. The volunteers distributed relief materials and medicines to over 200 flood-affected people. Noted social worker Snigdha Saikia was also present in the relief camp. She alongwith the volunteers of “The Bridge – Setubandhan” also visited the flood-ravaged areas and spoke with the local people affected by the recent wave of flood. She appealed to the government to take pro-active action to deal with the food situation. The organization also felicitated and provided financial aid to the successful candidates who passed in this year’s HSLC exam from the area in first division. Members of the organization including Ajoy Narayan Medhi, Siddheswar Choudhury, Dhokraj Chetri, Sanjay Bhusan Sarma, Amal Chatterjee, Apu Baishya, Sonku Das, P Sarkar, Rita Das and Johor Choudhury.
