A Special Juvenile Police Unit was launched in Sivasagar district, strengthening the overall situation.
The Police Officers were trained on provisions and processess related to the JJ Act, POCSO Act, Child Labour Act, Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, Missing & Trafficked children by UTSAH- the child rights organisation now working in partnership with Assam Police.
The Police Officers were also provided with a intensive session on Mental Health Well-being. Investigating Officers from Charaideo and Dibrugarh also attended the day-long capacity building programme.
DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta joined the inaugural programme and presented the Keynote Address stressing on the importance of activating structures like SJPUs and AHTUs, so that children receive timely justice.
Shubrajyoti Bora, (SP, Sivasagar); Mohan Lal Meena, (SP Jorhat); Yuvraj (SP, Charaideo); also attended the special inaugural session.
