In line with the ambitious ‘A Fortnight for CM inaugurates, lays foundation of projects worth Rs 973.38 crore in Dibrugarh ’‘A Fortnight for development’ initiative to fast-track developmental projects, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday laid foundation stones and inaugurated projects worth Rs 973.38 crore in Dibrugarh district. During the programme held at Tingkhong the chief minister laid the foundation stones of mini stadiums at Naharkatia, Tingkhong, Lahowal and Duliajan and a  rural sports complex at Moran. He also laid the foundation for the upgradation of the Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) at Dibrugarh, Lahowal and the Dibrugarh Government Polytechnic.  

The chief minister also laid the foundation of an airconditioned auditorium of the Dibrugarh Hanumanbux Surajmal Kanoi (DHSK) College and a new ITI at Duliajan. He also laid foundation of projects for strengthening and widening of Bhadoi Panchali-Joypore-Khonsa Road via Tipam, the Moran-Naharkatia Road and the road from Mohanaghat to Mohmari Pathar.

In addition he also laid the foundation of road-cum-embankments from Mohmari Pathar to Madhupura and Oakland to Maijan Tea Estate. The chief minister also laid the foundation of a road overbridge at Madhavpur-Tipling railway crossing. He also laid the foundation of power sub-stations at Khemeria in Duliajan, Belbari Tinali and Japisajia at Lahowal.

The chief minister also inaugurated the Government Dental College at the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), a PWD Inspection Bungalow at Tingkhong, 24 piped water supply schemes under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and a Project Facilitation Centre cum Guest House of the Water Resources Department in Dibrugarh.

Earlier in the day, the chief minister visited the Assam Petrochemicals Limited (APL) at Namrup along with Union MoS for Petroleum and Natural Gas 

Rameswar Teli and reviewed the operational status of its new plant. He also interacted with APL employees at the plant. MLAs Taranga Gogoi and Prasanta Phukan, APL Chairman Bikul Deka, Assam Tourism Development Corporation chairman Rituparna Baruah were also present during the visit.
