A new state-of-the-art swanky office building of the Superintendent of Police (SP) was inaugurated in Dibrugarh on Tuesday. Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan inaugurated the new building built at the heart of the town in Thana Charali area beside the KC Gogoi Road. The two-storied building has been constructed under the City Infrastructure Development Fund (CIDF) at a cost of Rs 3 crore.

The old SP office which is situated near the Dibrugarh Town Protection Dyke along the Brahmaputra beside the AT Road will be completely shifted to the new building in July, informed SP Shwetank Mishra. The old SP office which was prone to frequent waterlogging is located around 1 km away from the newly built one.

Dibrugarh SP Shwetank Mishra said, “Since the new building has not been completely finished, we will shift in July. The first phase of work has been completed. Work of the second floor and boundary wall will be done in the second phase. The old office was prone to frequent waterlogging during rains. Now that problem will be solved. The new building is spacious and centrally located. Everything will be digitalised which will be helpful for citizens.”
