A fake Aadhar card racket was busted by the Dibrugarh police on Saturday. According to police, one Khalil Rahman was running an unauthorised Aadhar enrollment centre in an Anganbadi centre located at Kalibari road in Dibrujan area of Paltan Bazar, Dibrugarh. The person use to collect between Rs 350 to Rs 450 per Aadhar enrollment from the applicants and the centre use to operate daily from 6pm to 10pm since last several months. The person use to collect advance amount from people but they never got their Aadhar cards.


Based on public compliant, a team of Dibrugarh Police led by OC Bularam Terong, Town Sub-Inspector Arjun Singh and Borbari police outpost In-Charge Hemanta Sharma on Saturday carried out a raid but the accused managed to give the slip before the arrival of the police.
Assistant Commissioner Jyotikona Chetia who visited the spot to enquire into the matter said, “We have received a complaint and started an enquiry. The district administration is going the lodge a FIR and we will take strict action against the culprits.”
Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha said that he has initiated an enquiry and strict action will be taken against the culprits.
