The Solid Waste Management Plant in Dibrugarh to be Commissioned on 27th Aug.

Department of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of Assam and District Administration, Dibrugarh
going to inaugurate the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Plant at Lekai, Thakurthan, Dibrugarh on 27th August, 2021.

The project completed under Assam Urban Infrastructure Investment Program (AUIIP) will be inaugurated by
Rameswar Teli, Minister of State Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Ministry of Labour & Employment in presence of MLAs Prashanta Phukan and Binod Hazarika.

The SWM plant was one of the major demands of citizens of Dibrugarh. The residents of the town will have relief from the garbage related issues post the completion of the plant. Currently, there is no scientific garbage disposal system in Dibrugarh. The generated waste is dumped at Maijan in an unscientific manner. Garbage dumped at Maijan road in Dibrugarh which was creating problem for the local residents from the past many years.
