A travel and tourism virtualĀ  meet was organised in Dibrugarh by Gujarat Tourism department on Tuesday. Gujarat Tourism officials from their Kolkata regional office gave audio visual presentations on the various tourist attractions of Gujarat particularly the recently declared UNESCO World Heritage site of Dholavira and the Statue of Unity in Kevadia. Dholavira is an important archaeological site of the Harappan civilisation dating back 4500 years. It was a meticulously planned settlement with monumental structures, aesthetic architecture, amazing water harvesting system and variety of Funerary architecture. It has the world’s earliest and best planned water conservation system and possibly the earliest signboards written in ancient Indus script.


During the programme focus was also laid on the world’s tallest statue of Unity and the various recreational activities that can be done nearby including sea plane rides, boating, visit to theme based gardens like Butterfly park, Cactus Garden, Arogya Van, Unity Glow garden etc. The event was attended by tour operators, travel agents, media personnel, representatives of Indigo Airlines, president and secretary of Rotary club of Dibrugarh, president of Ladies Club of Dibrugarh, president of Inner Wheel club of Dibrugarh and other prominent citizens. The meet was organised in association with Avani travel services of Dibrugarh.
