Thieves loot valuables after smashing car window in Dibrugarh 
DIBRUGARH, APR 9: Thieves broke into a parked car in the heart of Dibrugarh town in broad daylight on Saturday and decamped with cash, mobile phone and jewellery. According to police, the incident happened when a group of 5-female teachers from the Sacred Groove Academy, Dibrugarh came to the Chowkidinghee playground in a car at around 11.30am to watch the ongoing cultural and ethnic festival. The teachers parked the car (AS-06-U-4481) outside the playground and went inside. After they came out after an hour they found that a window pane of the car was smashed and their hand bags were missing which they had left behind in the car. The victims reported theft of Rs 1 lakh,  one mobile phone, one gold chain. The stolen cash belonged to all the five teachers who had come straight from school after drawing their monthly salary. An FIR was registered at the Milan Nagar police outpost. The police have started an investigation and checking CCTV cameras for possible clues. 
Significantly this is the second such case in Dibrugarh town in the last four days. On April 6, thieves had looted Rs 1 lakh from a parked car in the RKB Road by smashing the window pane. 
In that particular case a husband and wife after withdrawing Rs 1 lakh from the State Bank of India, Thana Chariali main branch had parked their vehicle(AS-06-AF-2566) at the parking lot and went for marketing at the New Market. After returning from market, they found that the window glass of their vehicle was broken and the plastic bag where they kept Rs 1 lakh was missing.
