Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma who is on a visit to upper Assam to take stock of the covid situation on Saturday advised the deputy commissioners of Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts to advance the curfew hours from 2pm to 12 noon. Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts apart from Kamrup (Metro) have been the worst hit by covid among the districts of Assam in the second wave of the novel coronavirus. 
“I have advised DC Dibrugarh to impose curfew in Dibrugarh district from 12 noon from May 17 with due consultation with eminent citizens and businessmen of the district. The deputy commissioner will take the decision accordingly,” the chief minister said after visting the Assam Medical College and Hospital.

Earlier in the day, the chief minister visited the district hospital at Tinsukia to take stock of the facilities for covid patients. He also had a meeting with the deputy commissioner where he advised the latter to carry out at least 500 RTCPR tests daily, 2,000 screening, strict containment protocols and advancement of curfew by 2 hours.
“I along with Union Min @Rameswar_Teli, Min @SANJOYKISHAN1 & MLAs visited district hospital at Tinsukia to take stock of facilities put in place for #COVID19 patients including ICU beds, oxygen availability etc. I asked doctors to ensure best possible treatment,” the chief minister tweeted.
