The ‘no helmet, no fuel’ rule has been imposed by the Dibrugarh district administration in the district as part of its efforts to prevent two-wheeler accident fatalities. As per the notification no petrol pumps in the district shall sell petrol to any such two-wheeler rider who arrives at the petrol pump without a helmet.
Earlier a departmentally related standing committee (DRSC) meeting was held on March 11 where a district level appraisal committee (DLAC) for “Good Samaritan” was constituted which laid the ground for the implementation of the no helmet, no fuel rule. The deputy commissioner cum district magistrate of Dibrugarh alongwith the superintendent of police, joint director of health services, and district transport officer are members of the committee.
“It has been notified that “NO HELMET-NO FUEL” policy is in force throughout the Dibrugarh District for strict implementation of Helmet Law as per guidelines of the Honourable Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety. In this regard necessary instructions has been issued to all oil depots not to sell petrol to anyone who do not wear helmet,” the order said.
