Cherry Gohain, a student of Womens College, Tinsukia brought laurels to her alma mater by securing the All Assam first rank in the Class 12 board examination in Arts stream. She shared the first spot jointly with Sadhana Devi a student of Kamrupa Girls’ Senior Secondary School in Kamrup (Rural) district. Both of them secured 487 marks out of 500 with 97.4%. 

Talking to reporters at her Laipuli home in Tinsukia, an elated Cherry said, “I am very happy with my results as I was not expecting a rank among the top ten.  There was no fixed time period for my studies but I studied regularly. I am very much grateful to my parents, my teachers, and well-wishers. I didn’t take any tuition except for grammar. My next plan is to pursue graduation and to become a professor in the future. Moreover, I am also interested in the civil services.”

Nikhil Gupta, a  student of RD Senior Secondary School in Tinsukia secured the All Assam 3rd rank in Class 12 Commerce stream.
