The stage is set for the Group of Twenty (G20) meet in Dibrugarh that will be held on March 24 where more than 100 delegates from G20 members, guest countries and international organisations, along with invited participants are expected to participate. Addressing media persons in Dibrugarh on Wednesday, deputy commissioner Biswajit Pegu said that as many as 103 delegates have confirmed their participation in the high-profile event. Apart from delegates from the G20 countries of Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Republic of Korea, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States and the European Union there will be participants from nine guest countries namely Bangladesh, Egypt, Mauritius, Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Singapore, Spain and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

“There has been 103 confirmation from the G20 members and guest nations. The delegates will arrive at Dibrugarh Airport by a chartered flight at 1.30pm. They will be lodged in four hotels. The G20 main event will be held at the Manohari Tea Estate banquet hall on March 24 from 12.30pm to 5pm. We have also planned a tea garden tour for the delegates for the delegates where they can witness first hand the process of tea plucking, tea processing and tea tasting. The delegates will leave for Itanagar on March 25 at 9.30am,” Dibrugarh deputy commissioner Biswajit Pegu said.

Meanwhile security has been beefed up for the upcoming G20 event in Dibrugarh. Dibrugarh SP Shwetank Mishra, additional SP (Headquarters) Bitul Chetia, additional SP (security) David R Neingaite took stock of the security arrangement of the upcoming event.
