An awareness programme on Cyber Safety and National Security was organised by Dibrugarh Police on Friday at Dibrugarh Hanumanbax Surajmall Kanoi (DHSK) College in collaboration with CID Assam and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) DHSK College, Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), MHA and the Ministry of Culture. Participating in the programme, Dibrugarh SP Shwetank Mishra said that day by day increasing cyber crime is adversely affecting the society. He added that cyber crime is spreading in the society in such a rate that it would create a dangerous situation for the future generation and this kind of awareness programme is a way of developing knowledge among the youths on issues related to cyber crime.

The programme was compered by Bitul Chetia, additional SP of Dibrugarh. Dr Sashi Kanta Saikia, principal of DHSK College delivered the welcome speech where he appreciated the efforts of Dibrugarh district police towards creating awareness among the students on this timely and crucial issue. 

Biswajit Pegu, deputy commissioner of Dibrugarh who was present on the occasion as chief guest appreciated the efforts of Dibrugarh police briefly talked about the means of  eradicating cyber crime from the society. He also released an awareness song on cyber crime.

Resource person Dr Gunadeep Chetia, Programmer, Dibrugarh University explained in detailed the various ways and means by which the cyber criminals cheat the common man and safety measures one should take to avoid being scamed. He also asked the students to be careful while using mobile phones and downloading various apps. A drama on the theme of cyber crime was also performed by the students of National School of Drama.
